Accompaniment Rates & Policies
What is my job
As a musician and pianist, my job is to collaborate with you to present a professional and artistic performance. Your time and expense is less when you are well-prepared and I have the music 10 days or more in advance of our first rehearsal.
What you can expect
To perform for vocal class or semester juries, you can expect two or three rehearsals to feel prepared as an ensemble. If you are planning a half or full recital, we would need a minimum of 6 weeks to 2 months of regular weekly rehearsals depending on the amount of music and its difficulty. Make sure to allow plenty of lead time to arrange rehearsals and/or lessons.
How does it work
It is the responsibility of the student to compensate the accompanist for rehearsals, vocal classes, juries and recital performances. Fees are to be paid in advance of the final performance.
Hourly Rates and Fees
My hourly rate for rehearsal time is $28.00 per hour. I charge a $14 fee for vocal classes or juries. My fee for a recital is $50.00 in addition to accumulated rehearsal time. There is a $20.00 late fee when payment is received after a performance.
Scheduling
Communication is essential to arranging rehearsals and lesson times. Do not make assumptions about my availability. I will know the dates for semester juries and you won't need to inform me of your specific time. However, it will be the student's responsibility to arrange any other juries (such as BM, BME or BMA) or performance dates with me. When trying to arrange a recital date, you will need to coordinate with the Music Office, your private teacher and me.
Payments
All fees must be paid in advance of any performance. Semester jury fees must be paid prior to the day of juries, no exceptions. Anyone who has not abided by this policy will be charged an additional $20.00 late fee. When preparing a recital, the student will be billed monthly for any fees. Non-payment releases the accompanist of any further commitments until payment is received. All fees must be paid in full, including the recital fee of $50.00, before the day of the recital.
Copies of Music
It is the student's responsibility to provide complete readable copies of the music to be performed. You need not tape the pages together. Make sure either the pages are numbered or placed in the correct order. All the music to be performed should be provided at least 10 days prior to the first rehearsal. Also recordings of pieces if available are strongly recommended.
